New headquarters for HG Merz in Berlin
The commercial law firm SNP Schlawien advised the architect Prof. Dr.-Ing. h. c. Hans Günter Merz on the acquisition of the new business premises in Berlin. The consultation included both the legal due diligence and support in the drafting and negotiation of the contract. It was agreed that the purchase price would not be disclosed. The seller of the property is a private investor.
The internationally renowned architect HG Merz is dedicated to two main areas of activity: the renewal, repair and extension of primarily listed and sensitive buildings, as well as the conception and implementation of exhibition and museum designs. He is known for his numerous projects on the Museum Island and around the street Unter den Linden in Berlin (renovation of the Old National Gallery, basic restoration of the State Opera House Unter den Linden, conversion of the State Library Unter den Linden, conversion of the former GDR State Council building into the ESMT European School of Management and Technology), but also for sensitive renovations such as the Stasi Memorial in Berlin-Hohenschönhausen and the Sachsenhausen Memorial and Museum Foundation. He has developed museum concepts for the Mercedes-Benz Museum and the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart, the Ruhr Museum in the Zollverein World Cultural Heritage Site in Essen and the Richard Wagner Museum in Bayreuth, among others.
HG Merz is a member of the architecture section of the Berlin Academy of Arts, and has been awarded several German architecture prizes, including the Balthasar Neumann Prize, the German Steel Construction Prize and the German Design Prize.
